iOS / tvOS

Some HLS fMP4 content fails to play on iOS/iPadOS 18.

During our QA process, we detected that some HLS streams fail to play on devices running iOS 18, while devices running iOS 26+ play the same content flawlessly. The issue appears to be related to the strictness with which iOS AVPlayer enforces HLS compliance on iOS 18.

Safari

Safari does not surface HTTP error status codes to the player.

Applications that depend on observing a HTTP status codes should treat Safari as a best-effort target.
